Rascal Flatts

Last Friday night we went to the Rascal Flatts concert and it was so much fun! Thanks to my ticket broker (Brian) we were able to get tickets in his company's suite, and let me tell you, that is the best way to see a concert. You have an unobstructed view and your own bathroom! I am already looking forward to next year.

About 5 years ago, Tim was diagnosed with Kidney Failure. We were surprised, but not shocked because 2 of his siblings also have kidney failure and have had to have transplants.Over the last 5-ish years, Tim has been seeing a nephrologist regularly every 3-6 months as requested by his doctor. They've monitored his B.U.N. and creatinine levels closely and determined late last summer that transplant time was getting close. We then met with a transplant coordinator, social worker, financial coordinator and surgeon. 13 vials of blood were drawn and labs ran. The goal for Tim during this time was to have him ready for transplantation before it became necessary for him to go on dialysis. This included, for us, finding a living donor.We've talked to many people about donating their kidney to Tim. Not asking anyone specifically, but just throwing it out there so people know what's going on and if it's something they would be willing to do, we'd be willing to take them up on it. So many have said it's something they would think about, and we appreciate SO MUCH that they would even consider it.At Tim's appointment today, his doctor had his name put on the waiting list for a kidney. Within the next week or so, we'll have the results of his blood work to know if he'll need to start dialysis. (His last labs read that he was at 12% kidney function, dialysis usually starts around 10% funcion.) As he has been feeling pretty good, we're hoping dialysis will be put off for a few more months.This is where you come in.Have you seen the billboard on the highway that says something like "Donate a kidney/car to the kidney foundation"? Well, if you've been thinking "hmm... I have this spare car lying around, but I also have a spare kidney.... what to do... what to do..." We'd like to encourage the kidney donation. :)Here's what you do.Call Cathy at 801-507-8311 or 801-507-3380.Cathy is Tim's transplant coordinator. She'll schedule a time for you to get a work up done to see if you're a match for Tim.What you need to know.Tim's blood type is A+, however, if you are A+ OR A- you can still be a match. If the sub-grouping is necessary, it will be determined later on.Recovery time for the donor is 4-6 weeks on average. You would be in the hospital for 5-7 days. You can't drive for 2 weeks or lift anything over 20 lbs for 3 weeks.Either our insurance or Medicare covers both the donor surgery and the recipient surgery, so there is no out of pocket cost for you.That's it. So now if you're thinking "I only have one kidney... I'm diabetic... I'm the wrong blood type... I hate hospitals... I'm terrified of needles... Tim? Who's Tim?" Trevon's book

Trevon is quite the author lately. This is his most recent work, and when I read the back cover it made me laugh, so I thought I would share it. Here is a picture and for the translation, if you can't read it, look below.

Discovery Gateway

Last month on Presidents day when the kids were out of school we tried to take them to the Discovery Gateway children's museum, but it was SO packed. So we made a deal and we went back yesterday while Trevon was off track. As always the kids had fun.

Taylor stayed in that spot for almost 45 minutes. She loved playing in the water. She is my little water bug. I have a hard time getting her to get out of the bathtub every morning. She is so excited that she is three and can now take swimming lessons just like the boys!

What a nerd! But we love him anyways.

This is Oscar the Grouch's garbage can. When you try to lift the lid Oscar says something grumpy to you. Taylor wasn't expecting that and it made her very nervous. She didn't like it she said he was mean.

We went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse on Saturday night (which was a zoo by the way). But this was Jackson and Taylor sitting on the sadle in the waiting area. Those two crack me up, they can be the best of friends one minute and then the next they are swinging at each other. Luckily they get along great for the majority.

Bust a move!

We went to the high school tournament games up at weber last week. The boys were showing us some of their dance skills before the game started. But I must say they have some pretty good moves. I can't wait to show these to their girlfriends in about ten years. These boys make me laugh!!

Oh Jackson! You make me laugh

I was talking with my mom this evening and we were talking about some of the crazy things that Jackson says. And we remembered this one particular incident that still to this day makes me giggle. Here is how it went. My mom had come over to our old house to help me do some touch up painting. We need some sort of supply, so my mom said she would run over to walmart quickly and grab it. Of course Jackson wanted to go with her because he always comes home with a treat when Grandma takes him. So I said he could go with her, but it was going to be a very quick trip and no treats! I even told my mom "don't buy him anything, the kids have a million toys and don't need anything else. No treats!"
So my mom told me when they got in the car on the way to walmart Jackson said to her "You know Grandma Becky, when my mom said no treats, well you don't really have to listen to her because you're HER mom."

And then another time just before Christmas he was acting up and I told him he better be careful because Santa Clause could see him. And he said "No he can't mom. He SEES me when I'm sleeping, but he only KNOWS when I'm awake."
With Jackson around life is never dull. He is always cracking us up.

We went to the Jazz game last night and we decided to go early and let the kids go down close to the court during warm ups and see if they could get any autographs. And we were successful!! Trevon, Madison, Jackson and Tanner each got autographs from Ronnie Brewer, Ronnie Price, CJ Miles and Madison's favorite, Kyle Korver.

Rockband

What an adorable rockband. The boys were on the guitars, Madison was on the drums, and Katie and Taylor were the singers. It was fun to watch them. They rocked while the moms and dads watched the Jazz game. (which they lost to the Clippers!!)


Singing lead in a rockband can wear a girl out. This is how I found her in her room later that night.

This evening the kids and I were trying to find something to watch on TV. So I was flipping through the menu and found Disney Pixar Cars. I said "Oh how about we watch cars?" and Jackson asked " Is it in HD mom?"
Didn't I tell you he was a miniature Brian.

How cute is this? Thank you Jenn for showing me how to be rid of those ugly blogspot templates. And is was way easier than I thought it would be. There were so many cool ones to choose from, I might need to change it every week. Also thank you Jenn for informing me about google reader it is pretty darn cool!

The Harlem Globetrotters

Last week we went to see the Harlem Globetrotters with the Lambs. We had a really great time. We have kind of made it a tradition to go every year because Trevon gets to go once a year for FREE for the rest of his life. They had a promotion for babies born in the year 2000. We just had to register him online and now he gets to go see the Globetrotters once a year for free. Pretty cool huh?

Catching Up

Finally, here is a glimpse at the Allfrey household over the past few very busy months. Like I said before, instead of writing I just posted a butt-load of pictures. Now I am all caught up and I can start my regular posts again.

For Christmas Brian's parents took us on a snowmobiling trip to Yellowstone. Wow, what a fantastic trip. I don't think I have ever seen that much snow in my whole life. It was gorgeous. It was a trip I will never forget!

Trevon recieved an award at school a few weeks ago. It was called the Principal's Pride award. Only two or three kids from each first grade class got one. He got it for always voluteering and being so helpful in class. Trevon is doing so well in school, we couldn't be any prouder of him and his straight A's.
