Wendy's Wedding

My sister Wendy got married on Saturday. I think I took about 150 pictures, so I tried to only post some of my favorites, but there are still a ton of pictures. I hope nobody gets bored. We had so much fun, it was more like a party than a reception. They had an awesome DJ and everyone had such a great time. Jackson was so hilarious, he was the life of the party. He was right in the center of everything. He was a dancing fool! Taylor had fun out on the dance floor as well. What a great evening, none of the kids wanted it to end. Jackson said he would never get tired of dancing!

The entire dance floor circled around Jackson and was cheering for him while he did his Michael Jackson spin when Thriller came on. I couldn't stop laughing it was so funny!!! People kept coming up to me and saying how cute Jackson danced. He sure loved to be the center of attention!

I will never forget how much fun we had that night, mostly watching Jackson dance. He is such a character. Man, my life would be boring without him!

More of the house

Here are some more pictures on the progress of our new home. We did a walk through on Friday to make sure the electrical and plumbing and other stuff was all right before they begin to sheetrock. A few of the windows came in the wrong size, so they had to be reordered and after they are installed an inspector will come out and then the sheetrocking will begin. They told us it would probably be about two months until it is complete. So we are right on schedule.

Jackson's worst toe

This all started about a month ago when we were walking into church and I opened the heavy door right into Jackson's toe. He was wearing his sandals that day and it scraped his big toe pretty good. I felt really bad, but he was tough and only cried for a minute. Then two days later at swimming lessons he stubbed that same toe on the cement. The very nice lifeguard helped to clean him up and gave him a band aid to put on it. (Of course the band aid was gone by the time we got done swimming. Don't you hate it when you find a used band aid in the swimming pool? Gross!) Anyways, the very next day we went to Shopko and I walked in first with the other two kids and Jackson was close behind. Then I heard him start to yell so I turned around and saw Jackson who was trapped. The automatic door had shut on him and he was stuck between the door and the security thing that beeps if you shoplift. One of the Shopko employees came running over and helped me free him. But poor Jackson's big toe got the worst of it. There was blood and a lot of tears. The employee went and got a first aid kit and helped to clean up the bloody toe. The whole time Jackson was in tears and kept telling me "mom, I hate this toe!" over and over again. Needless to say his toe has been very tender and anytime he bumped it or if anyone else accidentally touched it, it would hurt and so he has been calling it his worst toe. We knew he would loose his toenail and this past week it has been just barely hanging on, but he wouldn't let anyone touch it. It was really gross, but on Saturday it finally fell off. He told me that as soon as his new toenail grows back, it won't be his worst toe anymore, but until then it is still his worst toe. He carried around this nasty toenail all day in his pocket and that night when we were putting on his pajamas he told me he was going to put it under his pillow so he could get a dollar. So I had to crush his dreams and tell him there was no such thing as a toenail fairy. And now the toenail is in his piggy bank because he insists on keeping it. Totally disgusting I know, but some fights are just not worth fighting.

A work in progress

Okay, so one of the reasons I decided to start this blog was because I am so horrible about journaling. So I thought a blog would be a great way to account for the doings of our family. I really enjoy looking back through the archives and reading what I wrote about even just a few weeks ago. So for all the friends and family that read this I apologize for all the pictures of the house. I think it is going to be so cool to go back in a few years and see the pictures of our house when it was just a work in progress. We have a few pictures of the house we are in now when we first moved in, and it is neat to see how much things have changed! When we moved in there were no houses south or west of us. There was nothing but a huge field and the oquirrh mountains. What a difference now. Thanks for bearing with me and my ramblings, thank you for reading and I always love to hear your comments. Thanks everyone!!

Tired

Man, I think I have forgotten how much work it is to move. I feel like I haven't left the house all week because I have been getting things ready to put the house on the market. All the little repairs and things that need to be done always take longer than you think. Fix the screen door, repair a door stop, make sure the smoke alarms work, patch the small hole in the wall, repaint the bathroom, touch up paint everywhere, and the list seems to be endless. Every time I get one item accomplished I always find one or two more to put on the list. But I am beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I also can't believe how much crap we have accumulated over the last nine years! Brian has already made two truck loads to DI and now after this week I think I probably have about three more for him. I will be so happy when all of this is over with and we are in our new home. But then comes the fun task of unpacking.

Happy Birthday Kella and Tyson!

On Sunday we went to Grandma Jo's house to celebrate aunt Kella and cousin Tyson's birthdays. We had a fun BBQ and Papa set up the spiderman pool and the slip-n-slide in the backyard. All the kids had a blast!

Coming right along

They are coming right along on the house. Here is what has been accomplished in the last week.

First Day of First Grade

Trevon started first grade this past week. I can't believe my baby is old enough to be in first grade! He Had to start a little sooner than we had thought. Right now where we live they are a traditional school schedule, but where we are moving they are year round. When I went to register him three of the four tracks had already started a few days before. And the one track that starts at the end of the month had a waiting list. It took about a week for me to jump through all the hoops to even be able to let him go to his new school. They didn't want to let him start until we were three week away from closing. The reason is because the school is so over crowded, they have to be really strict and you can only attend if you currently live within the boundaries. I had to get special permission from the principal, and I had to bring a copy of our contract with the builder to prove we were really going to be living within the boundaries. But finally I got the go ahead and he is now enrolled in first grade, but he still missed the first eight days of school. The district is currently building another elementary school that will be opening next year, so it won't be so full next year when Jackson will be there for kindergarten.
Those first few days of school Trevon came home so exhausted. It took a few days for him to get used to all day at school. He is a smart kid and catches on to things so quickly, I know he will do great in first grade. We laugh because his whole day is based on whether or not lunch was good. After school when we ask how his day was he will say "It was good, I had pizza for lunch" or " It was alright, the chicken nuggets are not as good as Wendy's" His day revolves around lunch time. (kinda like his Dad! Just kidding hon)

Foundation

The builder has been cruising on our house. The footings were poured before I even got a picture of the hole! And now the foundation walls have been poured. I hope they keep up this pace.

We finally made a decision

After several months of looking we finally made a decision and found our new home! We have been in the market looking since about January, and we have looked at so many houses. And we have decided to build our next home. We are looking forward to the change and a brand new start in our brand new home. It should be completed around Thanksgiving. In fact they dug the hole yesterday. Below is a picture of our lot, and I will post pictures of the progress. We are very excited and very scared at the same time, but we feel really good about our decision. We won't be very far from where we are now so we don't expect to lose touch with anybody!!

10 years!

On thursday July 19 Brian and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary. I can't believe it has been that long. I must say looking back I am a very very lucky person. I married a great man who has taken good care of me and has given me three of the best kids in the whole world. If I had to do it all over again, I would do the exact same thing. It hasn't always been easy, but it sure has been worth it!

On thursday moring there was a ring at the door and it was a delivery. 10 DOZEN ROSES!!! One dozen for every year we have been married. They were so beautiful, what a great gift. I love you honey!!

Swim, swim, swim

The boys have been taking swimming lessons all summer. They love to swim!! I think they would stay in the pool all day if I let them. Taylor gets really upset because she wants to be in swimming lessons also, but she will have to wait until she turns three. Jackson is doing great in level one and Trevon just passed and now is in level 4b. I am really proud of how well they are doing and how much they are learning. I have a great time watching them. Here are a few pics from the other day.

Gone Fishin'

This weekend we took the kids fishing at Silver Lake up American Fork canyon. We went with out good friends the Lambs. We are very inexperienced when it comes to fishing. But lucky for us the Lambs go fishing all the time and they showed us the ropes. We had a great time and we actually caught a few fish ( well Trevon and Madison did).

Eeewwhh. Trevon wouldn't touch his catch of the day.

What a proud fisherman

I'ts been forever!!

It's been forever!!

I know it has been forever since I updated this blog. Life has been hectic and busy, but that is a good thing. Since I got my real estate license it has kept me pretty busy, a lot busier than I thought it would. But I am really enjoying it and looking forward to all the great opportunities it may present.
Here is a quick run down of everything that has kept us busy lately:
Tee Ball
Preschool and Kindergarten graduation
A new cousin
Family reunion
Jazz games
Field trips
Swimming lessons
Going to the movies
Going on Scooter rides with Dad
Sleep overs at Grandma and Grandpa's house
House hunting
Working in the yard
Every day chores
Swimming at the dump bucket pool
Running errands
Riding bikes

And many more of the typical summertime activities!!

I know I have said this before, but I am really going to try this time to write in this blog at least once a week. In the next post I am going to post a whole bunch of pictures from the last few months so you can get an idea of what we have been up to.
This week we saw Transformers which the boys loved so much they saw it again with Papa Bob. We also have swimming lesson on Tuesdays and Thursdays and then we stay after and swim. I also had a closing last week which was for the very first house that I have sold. I represented some friends of ours last month who bought a home and that was my first closing as an agent. I have two houses that are under contract and are scheduled to close on August 1. And I have one house currently for sale right now in South Jordan. We have also been making arrangements for our trips to Denver this fall. We have been checking on air fares and hotels and all that stuff that we have to plan for in order to go to the bronco games. It looks like we are going to be going twice this year with our friends the Lambs, it should be a lot of fun.
Well there it is for this week, and I will try to do better on the weekly updates.
